چکیده

A theory of parametric amplification in a filamentary electron beam by transverse fields is developed in coupled mode form. Space charge effects are neglected. In addition to beam modes at the signal frequency, beam modes at frequencies wn=w+wv, n=O, ±1, ±2· ··,where wp is the pump frequency, are coupled together. A discussion of the general form of the equations is given and reveals the circumstances under which exponential gain or periodic energy transfer between various modes can occur. When applied to quadrupole electric pump fields, a description of the quadrupole amplifiers of Adler, Wade, and Gordon is obtained. This theory is then used to evaluate the noise contribution from synchronous beam modes and higher cyclotron idler modes. Coupling by axially symmetric electric fields and by axially symmetric magnetic fields is discussed, and other amplification schemes suggested. The theory of coupling by axially symmetric fields can also be used. to study lens effects on noise in the gun region.

Vibration and Stability Analysis of a Pasternak Bonded Double-GNR-System Based on Different Nonlocal Theories

This study deals with the vibration and stability analysis of double-graphene nanoribbon-system (DGNRS) based on different nonlocal elasticity theories such as Eringen's nonlocal, strain gradient, and modified couple stress within the framework of Rayleigh beam theory. In this system, two graphene nanoribbons (GNRs) are bonded by Pasternak medium which characterized by Winkler modulus and shear...

Mechanical domain coupled mode parametric resonance and amplification in a torsional mode micro electro mechanical oscillator

In this paper, we experimentally demonstrate non-degenerate parametric resonance in a torsional micro electro mechanical (MEM) oscillator with two interacting mechanical modes of oscillation. The parametric oscillation results from a displacement-dependent electrostatic force generated in both the modes of oscillation. There is a decoupling of the input and the output frequencies in this mode o...

Axial and Transverse Vibration of SWBNNT System Coupled Pasternak Foundation Under a Moving Nanoparticle Using Timoshenko Beam Theory

In this study, a semi analytical method for transverse and axial vibration of single-walled boron nitride nanotube (SWBNNT) under moving a nanoparticle is presented. The surrounding elastic medium as Pasternak foundation and surface stress effect are included in the formulations of the proposed model. Using Timoshenko beam theory (TBT), Hamilton’s principle and nonlocal piezoelasticity theory, ...

Microwave growth from the beam breakup instability in long-pulse electron beam experiments

The beam breakup (BBU) instability has been investigated in high-current, long-pulse electron beams propagating through microwave cavities. Experiments are performed using a relativistic electron-beam generator with diode parameters: 0.7-0.8 MV, 1-15 kA, and OS-l.5 ps. The magnitude of the solenoidal magnetic field places these experiments in an intermediate regime between strong focusing and w...

Quantum nondemolition measurement of a light field component by a feedback compensated beam splitter

In conventional quantum nondemolition measurements, the interaction between signal and probe preserves the measured variable. Alternatively, it is possible to restore the original value of the variable by feedback. In this paper, we describe a quantum nondemolition measurement of a quadrature component of the light field using a feedback compensated beam splitter. The noise induced by the vacuu...
